GolfCONNECT - Initial Handicap Provision

Before a player can obtain an initial handicap, they must first hold a valid Golf ID. View the article in this article for instructions on allocating a new Golf ID:


To obtain a first time handicap the player must first return 3x18 Hole scorecards (or 6x9 Hole scorecards). 


For initial handicaps, Golf Australia recommend the player is given a temporary daily handicap of 54. Additional information can be obtained via Golf Australia's Handicapping Guidelines


Scores for Initial Handicap Calculation are entered via the AdHoc Score Entry method:

  

AdHoc Score Entry

  From the Main Menu select:

  • Membership
    • Member Directory


  • Find the Members Profile by entering their Member Number, First and or Last Name


  • Open the profile by selecting 
    • Actions
      • Edit Member Details



  • Edit Golf ID details


  • AdHoc Score Entry



    Complete the following details 

  • Select Course & Tee Block
    • Select the date of the round
      • For Initial Handicap, set the Course Handicap to 54

    

  • Enter the players hole by hole score
    • Submit




NOTE - Initial Handicap Allocation Delay

Previously when the required scorecard quantity (3 x 18 hole cards or 6 x 9 hole cards)  was submitted it would automatically assign the player an initial handicap allocation. In the new system, new handicap allocations are processed overnight. The players handicap will become available the next day after submitting the required scorecards.


Formula for Initial Handicap Calculation (Golf Australia)

Below is the calculation method used by Golf Australia for initial handicaps and player score records with less than 20 scores added. Any questions or queries about the calculation method should be directed to Golf Australia's help team.
